When I am reviewing a book, as opposed to just reading a book, I get to move it from the column, "leisure activity" to the column, "work," and thus justify lounging on the couch to read in the middle of the day. Plus, when I get burnt out reading student work, it's generally a pleasure to read a proper book where I don't have to keep flagging "passive voice, recast."
